Transfer of Credit

  • JSBC does not accept credit for experiential learning, credit by examination, prior learning assessment, advanced placement, or professional certificates.

  • Credits will only be accepted from accredited institutions.

  • Students seeking to transfer credits from other institutions must provide official transcripts from all previously attended schools during the application for admission to JSBC.  

Process 

  1. Official transcripts must be submitted with the application. The Registrar will evaluate transcripts for potential transfer credit, which will be confirmed with the student and their academic advisor at registration. 

  2. Students may be required to submit additional documentation to justify transfer credits, or the Registrar may request syllabi or other documentation from the transferring institution.  

  3. A fee of $35 will be assessed for each credit hour transferred toward a student’s degree program.  

Grade Requirements 

Only courses with a grade of C or better are eligible for transfer. 

 Limitations 

  1. Associate of Arts in Biblical Studies Degree: For the Associate of Arts (AA) program, students may transfer up to 24 credits.  

  2. Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies Degree:  In the Bachelor of Arts (BA) program, up to 12 hours of elective credits may be transferred 

 Course Exclusions 

  1. English, Math, or Science credits must have been earned within the last seven (7) years to be considered for transfer.  

  2. Elective credits must have been earned within the last ten (10) years. 

  3. Credits from prior JSBC courses are transferable according to the current program's guidelines, excluding student ministry (SM) or health education (HE) courses.

  4. Courses designated as Core Curriculum in a student’s degree plan are ineligible for transfer.
